This Tarzana, California home underwent a stunning transformation in two phases, expertly executed by Emily Brownell of Gilded Hearth. In the second phase, Emily revitalized the main living area, seamlessly blending organic materials and vintage pieces, giving the home a lived-in Mid-Century Parisian flair. After exploring this space, be sure to tour the owner’s suite from phase one here! The entire renovation is beautifully captured in the photos below by Charlotee Lea.

From the designer… We worked on this project in two phases. The first was was a primary bath, bedroom and office design and remodel with lots of organic modern vibes, which was featured on Haven in April! The next phase was a larger remodel of a very poor layout out with a non-usable fireplace splitting the kitchen off from the living room. We took out a wall, rearranged the floor plan and completely gutted the kitchen so the family had a much more open and usable kitchen for their family. The countertop slab was the first thing we purchased and its a stunning quartzite which set the tones bringing in a navy island and terracotta plaster for the hood. We had originally planned to have a custom cabinet next to the prefab cabinets but budget and timing lead the client to inquire about something vintage which I jumped at and found this stunning cabinet. The cabinet color inspired us to repaint the beams in the kitchen, which had been painted so many times we couldn’t go back to wood, and brought new life and dimension to the space.

We finished off by updating all the furnishings including bringing in this stunning MCM coffee table that tied in the terracotta color and refreshing the pillows on their sectional. The dining space got a MCM update and all the lighting is the perfect cherry on top! We were able to incorporate quite a few vintage furniture pieces into this project which always makes a space stand out and fit’s into our ethos of sustainability in design. We styled the home using the owners love of gardening to bring in some floral whimsy and charm. If you’d like to see more of this home, you can take the full video tour on our Instagram.
