A long-awaited renovation finally took shape in this 10,000 sq ft Tuscan-inspired builder-grade house. Design Shop Interiors balanced the existing European details with a seamless blend of contemporary and timeless elements to give this home a relaxed sophisticated appeal. Stephanie Russo captured the gorgeous results in today’s home tour seen below.

From the designer… We had completed renovation plans for this home in late 2018. We were out to bid with builders when the onset of the pandemic paused the project. After a year, our clients, like many people during this time, took inventory of how they wanted to use their home, so we went back to the drawing board and started the design process all over again. The original home was a Tuscan-inspired builder-grade home. The homeowners’ aesthetic leans more modern and streamlined than the architecture of this home could support, so we agreed to focus on a timeless and collected design while giving prominence to modern art and unexpected details selected by our art-loving clients.

The trust our clients put in us and in our process made this one of the most seamless and enjoyable experiences we as designers can hope for and is also apparent in the final product you see. They understood the financial investment needed to get the look they were after. They also hired a fantastic builder, Landmark Builders, who brought our design to life excellently.

Special attention was paid to the lighting fixtures throughout the home and they really do make a major impact as do the brass plumbing fixtures throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. Custom cabinetry, limestone flooring, and textural materials play in perfect harmony throughout the house and really tie in the decor with the new architectural elements.

The furnishings approach was focused on layering earthy undertones and soft textures with accents of raw materials and natural finishes to complement the architectural finishes and European subtleties throughout. Our styling intention was to create harmony with and focus on the client’s love of art to hone a personal and collected space.

This house was a unicorn in that we really didn’t experience any major challenges or issues. That again is a testament to Landmark Builders. The most difficult thing was just the sheer size of the project. With seven bathrooms and nearly 10,000 sf to design, tracking all of the details and the project management was quite overwhelming.
