Sharp & Grey Interiors brought this 1960s home into the 21st century with a family-friendly transformation. The character of this home remains traditional while the open rooms add functionality for a modern family. See how this house became a forever home in the tour below!
From the designer… The main goal of this project was to breathe life into this 1960s colonial to create a modern and inviting forever home for a young family of four. The original center hall colonial felt dark and compartmentalized, not ideal for this young family’s busy lifestyle. The primary goal was to open up the home and not only create functionality but infuse the space with a fresh streamlined style while embracing natural light and open flow. We wanted to create a design that invited people to go outside.
The biggest change was opening up the first floor and adding a huge classic kitchen designed for entertaining. Large windows invite the light in, creating a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors while ample seating ensures room for everyone.
Beyond opening up the space, we meticulously revamped the floorplan to enhance functionality. The laundry and powder room underwent thoughtful transformations, catering to the family’s everyday needs. The powder room now serves as a convenient pool bathroom, accessible from both inside and outside. Every detail was carefully curated to reflect the family’s style and add depth to the space, making it truly their own.
