Karin Bennett Designs transformed this Tudor-style home in Kitchener, Ontario, into a modern yet timeless space for a young family. The renovation focused on merging the traditional Tudor exterior with a sleek, contemporary interior to create a fresh and inviting atmosphere. This harmonious blend of historic charm and casual sophistication is beautifully captured by Mike Chajecki in the tour below.
From the designer… We recently completed a full renovation and decorating project of a stunning modern Tudor-style home for an amazing client. The project seamlessly blended the traditional charm of Tudor detailing on the exterior with contemporary design elements on the interior. We used a neutral colour palette throughout to create a serene, inviting living environment for this young family that perfectly aligns with the client’s vision.
The floor plan was quite divided with lots of small rooms. We took an old mudroom addition at the back that wasn’t done to code and incorporated the new mudroom and powder room into the kitchen at the back of the house. The wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed so we could increase the size of the new eat in kitchen. Our goal was to create larger rooms that function well while appreciating the historic charm.
In the living spaces, we introduced contemporary furniture with clean silhouettes. The bold lighting fixtures were chosen throughout that feel elevated and make a statement. The result is a beautifully balanced home, where the history of the Tudor style meets the elegance of modern design, creating a timeless yet forward-looking space for our client to enjoy.
