This custom home by Palmer Kay Design exudes modern European elegance amid a peaceful, wooded setting. Created for a couple seeking a serene pre-retirement retreat after leaving the bustling Atlanta Beltline, the home is rich with unique details, like arched steel doors and a striking limestone fireplace. Captured through the lens of Robert Peterson of Rustic White Interiors, the design seamlessly merges English charm with the beauty of its natural surroundings.

From the designer… This couple came to us as custom build clients who were moving from the bustling Atlanta Beltline area to the serene setting at Serenbe. The Serenbe community is divided into unique, architecturally styled hamlets, with the couple choosing to build in Swann Ridge, reminiscent of the English Cotswalds. We incorporated custom arched steele doors, an architectural statement unique to Swann Ridge, into the plans. The home has dramatic windows in a tree house setting, making for gorgeous 360 degree views. As we got to know the clients early in the build process, they brought us on for full-service interior design, resulting in a thoughtfully crafted project that spanned over 18 months to complete.

The main living space is open concept with the kitchen, dining, and living areas open to a screened porch and entertainment deck with a bifold kitchen window to connect the two spaces. It is anchored by a stunning limestone fireplace, custom beams, and statement lighting.

The primary suite is a sanctuary with soft, organic materials and patterns, with the bath showcasing dramatic mirrors that reflect and expand the natural setting. The day bed provides a cherished spot for reading.

The foyer makes a statement of its own with an arched entrance dressed in custom millwork that continues into the stair hall. Hidden within the millwork is a secret door leading to the laundry that shares a wall with the primary closet. We couldn’t resist designing a laundry chute to connect the two rooms for ease of functionality.
