In an era of expansive floor plans and restrained color palettes, this petite cottage makes a compelling case for cozy spaces brimming with color and charm. Designed by Kate Daskalakis of KSD Designs and photographed by Tamara Flanagan, this Ipswich, Massachusetts home nicknamed The Dollhouse embraces whimsy, color, and storytelling in a way that feels both fresh and deeply rooted.

From KSD Designs… Jenny Chambers fell in love with the home for its pastel, three-toned trim of butter yellow, minty green, and cornflower blue. Deemed The Dollhouse, the quaint turn-of-the-century Ipswich cottage was just 1,200 square feet, but the lore was extensive—during demolition, the builders discovered old circus billboards that were being used as the strapping for the ceiling. The goal was to transform the space into an inviting, functional home that brought forth the house’s natural charm.
