Amid the rolling fields of a sprawling wildflower farm in Minnesota, this inviting abode is a celebration of timeworn beauty and European country charm. Designed by Davis Interiors and captured by Spacecrafting Photography, this home embraces imperfection, storied materials—handmade zellige tiles, distressed wood, and cobblestone floors—to evoke a sense of history and warmth. The result is a space that feels effortlessly collected, where every detail, from a worktable-style kitchen island to antique furnishings, tells a story of authenticity and quiet elegance.

From the designer… The Prairie Preserve project was all about embracing the beauty of timeworn, perfectly imperfect design. The homeowners didn’t want a home that felt brand new, they wanted something that carried the charm of a house that had stood for generations, rich with character and subtle imperfections. Every detail was chosen to create that sense of warmth and authenticity, from handmade zellige tiles with their uneven glaze to hand-distressed doors that add depth and soul. The kitchen island was designed to feel like an old worktable, reinforcing the collected aesthetic of European country homes. A wall-mounted plate rack in the kitchen adds both function and charm, allowing dishes to be displayed in a way that feels effortless and lived-in. Cobblestone tile flooring further enhances the feeling of age and history. Antiques are woven throughout the home, adding depth and a sense of history. Rather than filling the space with all new furnishings, each piece was carefully chosen to contribute to the layered, lived-in feel.

The Prairie Preserve isn’t just a house, it’s a reflection of the quiet elegance of things that only get better with time.

What makes this home even more special is the land it sits on, a sprawling wildflower farm lovingly cultivated by the homeowner, Laurel. Laurel’s Flowers supplies blooms to local wholesalers and special events, and her deep connection to nature is reflected throughout the home. Light, airy curtains catch the breeze as they frame the prairie views, creating a sense of movement and softness. Cafe curtains in the kitchen add an old-world charm, filtering just the right amount of light while maintaining a cozy intimacy. Her office, a space where creativity flows, is wrapped in European floral wallpaper, a nod to the beauty she cultivates outside her door.
