Lucas Browning Design used a monochromatic color scheme and sleek furnishing to create this handsome transitional home in the Pacific Palisades. The best part? The modern interior is also a natural display area for family art to be showcased. See if you can spot all of the family art in the beautiful tour below.
From the designer… This home was a new build in Pacific Palisades developed by the owners, The Feil Group. Unlike many of the more traditional homes in the Palisades, this home has a unique modern feel and was a great backdrop to more modern furnishings. The white walls and streamlined architectural details dictated high-contrast modern light fixtures. At the same time, this family of four wanted comfort and a place to entertain family and friends. Downstairs we chose a monochromatic theme and brought in interest with texture and vintage rugs. This allowed the artwork, done by our client’s mother, Jane Feil, and aunt, Judith Gigliotti, to really stand out.
In the playroom we added some color with a deep green custom sofa. The Bastideaux Bogo fabric custom storage ottomans are a great place to hide the boys’ video game gear when not in use.
The upstairs lounge opens up to sweeping views of the ocean. We wanted this to be a fun adult hang-out space so we incorporated a bar cabinet from Noir, a custom curved sofa and two swivel chairs that can turn out to the balcony if needed. Above the sofa we framed vintage tape cassette prints of artists our clients loved: The Police and 2-PAC.
In the primary bedroom we chose more transitional pieces including a custom vertical channel bed, custom oak nightstands, and a walnut Community Manufacturing floor mirror. The bedroom is a warm and cozy place for our clients to relax after their busy day.
We did this project in the height of COVID-19 when our workroom had to shut down many times. The disruptions were hard to manage but we luckily had very understanding clients. Ultimately, it all came together beautifully!
