When this family sadly lost their home to a natural disaster they wanted a fresh start in an approachable, contemporary, and comforting home. They couldn’t have chosen a better designer to work with than Ginger Curtis, of Urbanology Designs, whose work is all of this and so much more. Inspired by carefully curated vignettes and gently curved archways she took this brand new build and shaped it into a serene and stylish home her client will cherish for years to come. Take a peek at the stunning photos by Matti Gresham below to see how it all came together.
From the designer… Our clients decided to build a new home after they lost their home to a tornado in the Dallas area. They wanted a place that was beautiful and approachable. We knew how much this house meant to them and we wanted it to represent them and create a place of comfort and beauty. We were challenged because of Covid, our ETA’s were continuously delayed. We had to pivot a few times to determine the best installation date for our client. We also had contractor work while our client and her family lived in the house, so we had to be very respectful of their environment and make sure to be as efficient as possible.
The design took inspiration from well-curated European vignettes with lots of contrast and unique pieces. We were inspired by the beautiful curves this house offers. The three large arched doors in the entry that lead you to an arched hallway followed by the living room beams are just breathtaking and a great source of creativity. The three alcoves on the second floor are a very unique space in this house. It’s something we have not seen before. We made them functional for the family, and we created two built-in desks, one for each boy, and a floating bench for reading. We love this feature and so do they!
