Set against the scenic backdrop of Utah’s rolling mountains, this home by Hughen House effortlessly blends minimalist design with organic influences. Natural materials like wood and stone create a space that feels fresh, inviting, and grounded in its surroundings. Through her sereen imagery, Cristina Zolotaia captures the thoughtful balance of stylish simplicity and warm, down-to-earth charm in the tour below.

From the designer… From the very beginning of this project, I drew inspiration from the simplicity of Utah’s breathtaking landscape. The state’s natural beauty, shaped over millennia, tells a story of diversity within an overarching sense of minimalism. I wanted to reflect that essence in the design—clean, intentional, and deeply connected to its environment.
One of the most intriguing aspects was exploring the idea of eurhythmics in the design. I aimed to mirror the slow, deliberate movements of the landscape itself, a place that was once beneath sea level and has since evolved into a mountainous haven. This concept became a guiding principle—creating spaces that flowed effortlessly, like a visual echo of Utah’s ancient geological shifts.
However, the journey was not without its challenges. Time was one of the biggest hurdles. With tight deadlines, there was limited room for trial and error. But in a way, that constraint pushed me to think more creatively and efficiently. The clients were incredibly supportive, which gave me the freedom to explore fluid, innovative options within the given timeframe. Ultimately, this project became a dialogue between nature’s slow evolution and the fast-paced demands of modern living. Despite the challenges, the result was a space that felt both grounded and timeless—a true reflection of the Utah landscape and its story.
