The Home Industry's Top Experts & Creatives

Stephanie Gamble Interiors brought much needed warmth and functionality to this Maryland home. She replaced the dark and dated elements of this abode with soft whites and textural finishes to create a comfortable home with functionality for a family of five. Keep reading to learn how she accomplished this and take a peek at how it all came together!

From the designer… Our client’s home has good bones, but it was super dated since it was built in the early 2000’s and contained lots of dark, heavily carved wood. These clients are super vibrant and fun, so they wanted a home that reflected their sense of style but was also a great place to raise their three little boys.

We completely gutted the kitchen along with the existing pantry. Removing the pantry allowed us to capture additional space to expand their tiny mudroom. The clients wanted a bright kitchen that also felt warm. This was accomplished through the combination of white oak on the island and the refrigerator/pantry wall. We also used a stunning Kalahari Quartzite on the countertops and backsplash, probably the most stunning pieces of stone I’ve ever seen. Continuing to bring warmth into the space we used a Kallista faucet in unlacquered brass along with a combo of brass and black hardware.

For the primary suite, clients wanted a relaxing retreat where they could unwind. Bright walls and soft furnishings were a must. The primary bath was a very dark and dreary space with an oversized shower that didn’t even have doors! We gave them a beautiful enclosed shower with marble walls and flooring along with separate custom vanities in white oak. We placed a gorgeous stand-alone tub in between the vanities. Because the original shower was so large we were able to condense the space to allow for a beautiful built-in which provides ample space for towels and toiletries. We also transformed the make-up vanity area with stunning Morris & Co. wallpaper, Lee Industries chair, and custom vanity.
