Working with a stylist has the ability to bring a room to life. We’re so excited to hear what you’ll be sharing about styling at The Workshop. How does working with a stylist on shoot day make an impact for designers?

A stylist can truly bring a whole new perspective to a space. Oftentimes, interior designers have spent months, or even years looking at the ins and outs of their project, and although they have the overall vision, I believe bringing in a stylist helps that vision come to life!

On shoot day, stylists must carefully consider every aspect of the space and draw out its best features. We must think about the textures, colors, and angles to create a particular atmosphere or mood. We help the designer think of all the little things, whether that is sourcing vintage or finding the perfect branch, we help create those moments that make you feel a certain way when you walk into a room.

Styling a space can change the entire vibe of a shoot. Give us your top tip for getting a perfectly styled photo.

My top tip for styling is to always have more on hand than you think! I always find that the more prepared you are with various props and provisions, it makes the shoot go much more smoothly. You just never know what you will need or what will complete the shot, and it’s always nice to work with different textures and layers to draw out the best feature of the shot. I am excited to share a checklist of many more tips like these at the workshop as a takeaway for attendees!

Who gave you a piece of advice that changed your career trajectory, and what was it?

A successful designer friend of mine told me, “Fake it till you make it”. By that she meant, in the design world, confidence goes a long way. If you are confident and sure of your work, people will naturally gravitate to your style and work ethic. It’s important to stay true to what makes your design heart flutter and I continue to do my best to run my business with that in mind.
