This home, located in the heart of Manhattan Beach, was in a great community, but in need of some updating. The clients who commissioned this fantastic partial remodel have three active boys and enjoy all of the amenities beach life. Julie, of Julie Donovan Design, brought in bespoke furniture that is kid and wine friendly, and glass lighting that makes one (or is it just me) think of air bubbles rising to the surface to create a home that definitely gives off chill coastal vibes. We think photographer, Lauren Pressey, perfectly captured the fun in this busy family’s home.
From the designer… This client wanted a light and bright look and lots of color so we tried to incorporate it wherever we could. We made all of the upholstered pieces at a local workroom and used performance fabrics whenever we could as they love wine and love to entertain. The main goal here was to have a coastal look with a bit of fun. It’s always nice when your client is as excited about the pieces much as you are, so we had a good time along the way.
We put in new floors and paint throughout the house, a whole new owner’s bathroom, a new laundry room, a new powder room and swapped the tile on two fireplaces. We also refreshed the kitchen with new countertops and backsplash, cabinet fronts, and hardware. After that, we layered it full of beautiful furniture and lighting.
