This Toronto home reimagines classic Georgian architecture with a contemporary twist. Designed by Mhouse Inc. and captured by Kim Jefferies, this dwelling balances timeless elegance with modern embellishments. From rich textures and bold contrasts to the thoughtfully layered details, every space is designed to feel both sophisticated and effortlessly livable.

From Mhouse Inc.… This home is situated in midtown Toronto in a premier neighbourhood that is tree lined and filled with old gracious homes. We wanted to respect the history of the area and the bones of the home, but make it feel more contemporary for a young growing family. We added a two-story addition onto the back, which accommodates the sunken family room and primary bedroom suite, both with soaring ceilings. We were able to achieve this mix of old with new by paying close attention to traditional architectural features and transitional, classic interior design. We then had fun with the interior decor, injecting modern elements to mix it up a bit! The home feels classic but young, warm and inviting.

One of my favourite moments is in the office/den where we hung our client’s great grandmother’s portrait next to mid century furniture and dark walls. It is so chic, personal and perfect.
