Brooke MT Interiors has beautifully executed warm, transitional style in this five bed, five bath Iowa spec home. As her first full home project as a business owner, this space illustrates Brooke’s thoughtful and cohesive approach to design. Photographer Dan Rolling skillfully captured the cozy shots in the tour below.
From the designer… This project has been an 18-month journey from start to finish, marking my first full-home completion since starting my own business! We started with a detailed floor plan, to which we specified every aspect including flooring, tile, cabinetry, countertops, plumbing, and lighting. As this was a spec house, I collaborated with an investor to bring this project to life, and I’m thrilled that it was featured in the Iowa City 2024 Parade of Homes. This project has truly been my “baby,” and I’ve gained invaluable experience every step of the way.
The most inspiring spaces in the home include the kitchen, boasting three-toned cabinetry; the primary bathroom featuring a gridded black wet room; and the loft office adorned in a moody blue-green color palette (my favorite space!). This five-bedroom, five-bathroom home was initially designed with a coat closet in the foyer, but we transformed it into a built-in drop zone and focal point, rather than a standard closet. The simple fireplace with a quartz surround seamlessly integrates into the living room, optimizing space without protruding mantels or fireplaces.
