From the designer… Nestled in the heart of Nevada City, an enchanting historic Northern California gold mining town, lies a gem from the 1930s—a charming, tiny and traditional log cabin. With its modest footprint of just 848 square feet, this cabin captivates with its serene forest surroundings and a gentle creek that runs through the property. The family, drawn by the allure of this quaint abode and its picturesque setting, embraced the adventure of living within its cozy confines, despite initial apprehensions about the limited space.
Cue DSI. Our design journey began with a deep reverence for the cabin’s original character, blending modern functionality with its timeless charm. The entryway, a critical transition space, was transformed with built-in cabinetry that flows seamlessly into the updated kitchen. This thoughtful design maximizes every inch, concealing a stacked washer and dryer and providing ample storage. The kitchen, the heart of the home, was meticulously planned to ensure efficiency and comfort, with custom cabinets that offer both practicality and aesthetic appeal. A quaint dining nook invites the family to gather for intimate meals, enhancing the warmth of the home.
Each room within the cabin tells a story, thoughtfully curated by the homeowner, whose eye for vintage treasures infuses the space with a unique blend of antique and transitional elements. The two bedrooms, a single bathroom, and the living area are furnished with pieces that evoke a sense of history while offering modern comforts. Over a year has passed since the family first settled into their cozy haven.
