In the vibrant city of San Francisco, this modern transitional home was crafted to reflect a young family’s love for playful design and artistic expression. Designed with thoughtful precision by Cusp Interiors, and captured by photographer Brad Knipstein, this abode combines soft, textural palettes with bold statement moments, such as a fluted viola marble fireplace and striking Porter Teleo wallpaper. With curated art and thoughtful design, the home balances sophistication with the durability needed for family living.

From the designer… For a young family, the Lake District of San Francisco is a coveted neighborhood offering a sense of community, easy access to family friendly activities, and still bustling with the vibrancy expected in city living. When our clients came upon an opportunity to purchase a renovated and well-maintained home, they went for it. A fresh perspective and an infusion of our clients’ signature quiet luxury style was what the house needed to make it their home.
Interesting silhouettes and textural fabrics drove our design approach. In the living room, we designed clean and contemporary built-ins flanking the fireplace to allow the floor to ceiling fluted viola marble at the fireplace to take center stage. Soft grays and creams dominate the space and are accented with warm earthy hues such as rust and olive green. The dining room became a stunning focal point, thanks to striking Porter Teleo wallpaper that sets the scene for both intimate dinners and lively cocktail parties. In the kitchen lounge we opted for indoor/outdoor materials for a playful custom sofa durable enough to ward off sticky fingers but soft enough for afternoon naps. Pops of rich orange and muted lilac create a serene primary bedroom for our once color shy clients.

As art enthusiasts, our clients continue to grow an inspiring collection of captivating pieces. We envisioned their home as both a backdrop for their expanding collection and a purposeful partner to the works they’ve already curated. One memorable moment during the project was when we found ourselves vying for the same limited-edition artwork for their primary bedroom! Moments like these, where our vision and our clients’ passions align so seamlessly, are what make our work so rewarding.
