Salt Design Co. brought vacation-level ease to this New Jersey seaside home. Bright and airy at its core yet punctuated with bold black accents, this abode is ready for day-to-day living that feels like a permanent vacation. Raquel Langworthy captured the breezy images in the tour below.

From the designer… This beautiful new construction seashore colonial was a product of the pandemic. With massive disruptions to the global supply chain, the construction industry was one of the hardest hit. Navigating supply and labor shortages, shipping delays, and overwhelming demand, starting to build a new home in 2021 certainly brought its share of challenges. Seeing our completed Boston Boulevard Project now, you would never know. Our intention was to create an elevated design for this young family, all while maintaining a functional space practical for everyday life.

Salt was brought in from the very beginning of the project, assisting the client with designing many of the architectural details throughout the interior of the 8,000 square foot home in Sea Girt, New Jersey. The family of four was moving to the beach full-time and wanted the home to feel inspired by the coast, but remain designed for year-round living. We were lucky enough to design virtually every aspect of the home from the custom millwork to the cabinetry, flooring, furnishings, and final styling. With six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, we were able to explore many new materials and sources to create a space that is uniquely their own.

To create flow and consistency throughout the house, we chose a neutral base of warm woods, crisp whites, and black accents, then layered in unique design details to give each space its own personality. Our clients were incredibly trusting and receptive to the presented designs, opting for bold wallpapers and unique architectural details. One of our favorite moments comes as soon as you enter the home. With an open stairwell and ten-foot ceilings on the first floor, we knew we wanted the foyer to be a statement for those entering. We designed a multi-fixture installation made from abaca rope, staggering the heights to emphasize the height of the ceilings. Combined with the round metal table and white sculptural vases, it’s the perfect neutral segway into the rest of the home.
