Located in Austin, Texas, this home was originally rooted in Tuscan design before Ashley Ferguson Interiors transformed it into a vibrant, new age haven. Kieran Reeves Photography captured the home’s reimagined beauty, highlighting rich textures, vintage accents, and curated art. With natural light and artisan details taking center stage, the design seamlessly merges classic elegance with contemporary style.

From the designer… Originally built with Tuscan influences, this home was reimagined with a vision of creating a timeless and serene retreat. To achieve this, we started by painting the entire home white, using the light, airy backdrop to showcase the thoughtfully selected artwork and vintage pieces that give the space its character. We brought in layers of texture and subtle color through hard finishes—rich stone, handcrafted tiles, and warm wood accents—allowing the home to feel curated and cohesive while celebrating its unique blend of old and new.

The space initially felt dark and enclosed, with minimal windows that limited the flow of natural light. One of our main challenges was to brighten the home, which we accomplished by opening up the floor plan and adding new skylights and windows. Large glass doors off the kitchen lead to a cozy breakfast patio, inviting light into the heart of the home and creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living. These changes transformed the home into a light-filled sanctuary, where natural light now plays a starring role.

Throughout the home, we added personal touches that make the space feel truly one-of-a-kind. Each piece tells a story, contributing to a space that feels calm, collected, and timeless—a place where every detail invites you in and makes you feel at home.

With stunning views surrounding the property, it was important that we designed the living, dining, and kitchen areas to embrace the landscape without obstruction. By opening up these spaces, we allowed the outdoors to flow in, ensuring that each area feels cohesive and connected. The design keeps the home feeling classic yet refreshed, balancing openness with a sense of intimacy.

One of the more unique elements of this project was the Venetian plasterwork that we incorporated throughout the home. We partnered with Classic Finishes, a talented team from Louisville, Kentucky, to bring this beautiful texture to the primary bedroom, the kitchen’s vent hood, and our favorite feature—the fireplace. The plaster adds a soft, handcrafted feel, enhancing the calm and curated atmosphere we sought to create.
