I’ve learned that all good things take time—especially when it comes to transforming a home! Case in point? This beautiful Napa Farmhouse remodel designed by Mindy Gayer. It’s an equal parts nod to the California coast and wine country… the best of both worlds! Mindy truly makes every house feel like a home, through thoughtful design choices, comfortability and timeless charm. Step inside this one, captured by Lindsay Stetson Thompson, and when you’re done make sure to hop over to Mindy’s blog for the before photos she shared yesterday!

From Mindy Gayer… Our Napa Farmhouse project was an extensive remodel that took about a year to complete. We worked remotely alongside our lovely Clients, who are Southern California-born and raised, and relocated to the Bay Area shortly after getting married. They were on the hunt for the perfect home in Wine Country, and stumbled upon a neighborhood Ranch-style charmer in Napa…and it was love at first sight. They saw a ton of potential the moment they stepped foot on the property, and we loved getting to partner with them to make their farmhouse dreams come to life.
Our Client is a creative and artist herself, with an amazing eye for design, so we had the BEST time dreaming up every little space, every little detail, and every little corner together. Each room was given special thought and attention, with no two alike.
The original floor plan consisted of smaller main living areas and dated finishes throughout, so the remodel objective became very quickly obvious from the get-go: demo walls and ceilings to create one large living area to house everything under one newly beautiful vaulted ceiling for the ultimate Great Room meets Entry meets Dining meets Kitchen. When you walk through the front door, you’re happily greeted by a sea of white, abundant natural light, and perfectly complementary furniture and finishes. The home just has the best feel!
Traditionalists at heart, we opted to keep the finishes classic—clean lines throughout the cabinetry, millwork and hard surfaces, as well as a black & white palette upon which to make way for the custom furniture, artwork and accessories. And we wanted to incorporate a bit of everything, of course… classic farmhouse vibes, modern transitional finishes, touches of whimsy throughout, and pops of color that could easily be updated down the road.
When a project comes to a close, it’s such an incredible milestone for all of us involved. It’s not the first time it’s been said, nor the last, but it takes a village (and a wonderful one at that!) to bring big house dreams to life.
We develop such a special friendship during the process, working closely together for months, talking and pow-wowing daily most weeks, and we love knowing that we get to be part of something so deeply personal and meaningful for our Clients — helping them create a home for the little ones and their lives together. We’re lucky to have the best Clients around that give us the opportunity to dream alongside them.
