From the designer… Inspiration for the interiors started from the Spanish tiles on the exterior of the home and the Carlsbad, CA neighborhood vibe. My client, a stay at home mom, was open to trying new things but also provided several inspiration photos that helped develop the design direction. We wanted to create a timeless home that reflected the area— the home sits in a canyon with beautiful views— so we intentionally avoided fleeting trends. Instead, we focused on elements that deeply resonated with the clients’ tastes and the home’s architectural context.

In the kitchen, a wavy marble countertop brings life to the space and the Arto pattern concrete tile backsplash complements the Spanish vibe in the coffee bar. Texture and warmth can be seen throughout the kitchen and family room, which is filled with quality furnishings from vendors like Hour Hands, L’aViva Home, Petra Stone, and Tile Collective in Solana Beach. We added customized functional features including a coffee bar with a built-in Miele coffee maker and ice maker, engineered wood flooring for durability and aesthetics, a La Cantina door system for seamless indoor-outdoor living, and a redesigned media area with a stone surround fireplace that balances durability and style.

The family was unsure about the idea to add a breakfast nook at first, but now it's one of their favorite parts of the entire renovation.
