In Burlington, Ontario, ROW Design Studio brought a playful yet sophisticated touch to this family home. Captured by Kiely Ramos, the project blends English charm and California ease with a dash of Parisian eclecticism for a look that’s effortlessly layered and refreshingly personal.

From ROW Design Studio… The clients came to us wanting a home that felt more like them — eclectic, full of character, and layered with a mix of old and new. From the start, it was clear that the existing layout wasn’t functional for their family of four. The rooms felt closed off, dated, and lacked both storage and flow. Our goal was to reimagine the space to reflect their personality while improving its livability.
One of the biggest challenges was the small, awkward kitchen area, complicated by an HVAC wall, a staircase, a window, and a closet all crammed into one end of the space. These elements created a disjointed layout and made reconfiguring the room feel like solving a puzzle. To open things up, I proposed removing the window to gain more functional wall space and eliminating the closet to extend the kitchen cabinetry. We relocated the appliances and removed the wall between the kitchen and living area, which completely transformed how the space flowed.

This new layout allowed us to center the range, creating a natural focal point with visual symmetry. We also flanked the new fridge with pantry cabinets to maximize storage. One of my favorite design moments was disguising the HVAC wall with a curved architectural detail. We echoed that same curve on the opposite side of the room, giving the space balance and intentionality — what once felt like an obstacle became a defining design element.

To bring in the clients’ love of eclectic style, we layered the space with thoughtful details: wallpaper, a backbench, and a curated gallery wall. The result is a warm, personalized home that feels lived-in and loved — full of charm, character, and function.
