deVOL and Clarence & Graves have collaborated on the most inspired country kitchen in Bruton. Deep colorways and striking patterns lend to the quirky appeal of this space while traditional furnishings ground it in timeless charm. You wont want to miss this tour, so keep scrolling to see how this kitchen came together.
From the designer… Shall we begin with Bruton or the kitchen? It’s a tricky choice but if you know Bruton in Somerset then you will know it’s quite the place, from the brilliantly styled restaurants and shops to the International Hauser & Wirth art gallery.
This new Classic English kitchen has been designed by deVOL and Clarence & Graves and is their second deVOL kitchen. Well, this time they have moved to the country and created a wonderfully classic kitchen. The colours and furniture choices matched with such a gloriously light room have created the simplest and most uncontrived home we have seen in a long time.
We were so excited to see the round fold-up dining table, a vintage piece that kept the room from feeling too formal or fixed. The table’s spindly legs and convivial shape gave an air of freedom and ease that is so hard to achieve. Our new Vineyard Table would have felt right at home here and exactly the reason we decided to introduce and make such a table for our online shop, we are all in favour of furniture that can be used in different locations depending on the situation. A table that feels at home in a grand kitchen or carried down to the bottom of the garden for supper in the sunshine.
One simple run is all the Classic English furniture that deVOL supplied in this kitchen, designed to feel traditional, functional, and most of all comfortable and beautifully proportioned for the room. A little bit of striped wallpaper adds a certain luxury and cosiness and when the deVOL creamware pendants are dimmed low, the room transforms from light and airy to moody and romantic, just perfect.
Stepping through the doorway from the kitchen you find yourself in a haven of colours and patterns, the utility room. Quite different from the kitchen, yet picking up just enough colour to create a flow from room to room.
House of Hackney wallpaper, rich deVOL wooden worktops and a special bespoke paint colour for the deVOL Shaker cupboards, a little bit pink and a little bit peachy terracotta. The simple run has a small undermounted sink and space underneath for a washing machine and tumble dryer. An old wooden laundry cupboard finishes the room and again, the simplicity shines through.
