Warm textures and a distinctly California-casual sensibility define this Tarzana, California home designed by DAMA Interiors and photographed by Sara Tramp. Reimagined through the lens of wabi-sabi living, this home brings functionality and softness to spaces designed to support gathering and everyday rituals.

From DAMA Interiors… A cluttered 1970s home lacking architectural character was transformed into a calm, sophisticated space rooted in wabi-sabi principles. We completely rebuilt the bathrooms and kitchen to better support busy family life, introducing durable materials, all-new seating, and custom-built built-ins that streamline storage and daily routines. A dedicated wine bar and a reconfigured kitchen with excellent flow and integrated seating support a family that loves to cook and gather.

By embracing natural, textured materials, including hand-finished woods, matte ceramics, and linen textiles, we cleared visual clutter and introduced quiet warmth. A restrained palette of terracotta, muted olive, and soft cream unifies the rooms, while smart storage and carefully chosen sentimental objects preserve family life while maintaining airy sightlines. Layered lighting and tactile rugs create cozy moments throughout, resulting in a modern, lived-in home that honors its era while providing a serene backdrop for everyday life.
