Joey Snow Design Co. brought a refined blend of modern simplicity and Old World influence to this thoughtfully crafted home in Thousand Oaks, California. Photographed by Pixels & Pigment, Joey’s design highlights natural textures, graceful arches, and custom details that balance European elegance with everyday livability. This project showcases how careful layering of materials and architectural elements can create a home that’s both sophisticated and welcoming.

From Joey Snow Design Co.This project began with a love for arches and a stone hood—elements that shaped our Modern European meets Old World design direction. Each room posed layout challenges, but with thoughtful space planning, we created a home that feels both functional and timeless.

In the kitchen, we raised the ceiling and embraced an off-center skylight, adding antique French oak beams to filter in natural light. A sculptural stone hood, clean-lined lighting, and a reworked layout—including an expanded pantry and arched passage—transformed the space into a family-friendly hub. Natural materials, subtle textures, and intentional details carried throughout—from the sweet touches in the girls’ bath to the bold guest bath floor—giving every space its own voice while keeping the story cohesive.

For a mom who spends a lot of time in the laundry room, the original layout just wasn’t cutting it. It felt awkward and underutilized. We flipped the washer and dryer to the opposite wall, which opened up the space and allowed us to design an L-shaped layout with more functional cabinetry. Now there’s plenty of closed storage, a full-size sink, and dedicated hanging space—all in a layout that feels organized, efficient, and user-friendly. It’s a space that actually works for the rhythm of daily life.

We transformed the primary bath into a serene, European-inspired retreat, blending graceful arches with layers of natural texture. Placing a compact freestanding tub beneath an updated arched window, opened the floor plan and created space for a private shower room with its own glass-arched entry. Inside, we wrapped the walls in handmade Moroccan Zellige tile and added a marble bench, pairing them with brass fixtures for warmth. A custom white oak double vanity with reeded detailing offers ample storage while nodding to timeless craftsmanship. Genuine limestone floors in a herringbone pattern, creamy plaster walls, and a palm-inspired chandelier bring softness and organic charm. Every detail—from the arched wall niche to the brass accents—was chosen to feel both functional and enduring, creating a space that’s as practical as it is elevated.
