Designed by Studio Noyemi, this warm and inviting home seamlessly blends Spanish Revival-inspired arches, earthy tones, and custom white oak cabinetry for a timeless aesthetic. Initially imagined as their dream home, the homeowners pivoted to create a contemporary rental, thoughtfully preserving the home’s original charm while incorporating a versatile, tenant-friendly design. From the designer… This home redesign was all about pivots. What began as a renovation of a charming 1930s cottage—spanning 1,700 square feet—quickly evolved into something much more. The initial goal was clear: expand the space, update the floor plan to include a larger kitchen with an open-concept layout, and add two additional bedrooms. But as demolition began, it became evident that a full renovation wasn’t enough. The project shifted, and we decided to rebuild the house, preserving its character while giving it a new life.

The clients were inspired by Spanish Revival architecture and wanted to infuse elements of their travels into the design—arches, earthy tones, and natural materials. However, as the project progressed, their vision changed. The couple pivoted from creating their dream home to focusing on a space they could rent out. The goal was to design a versatile space that felt both timeless and inviting while still preserving the charm they initially wanted. While the shift from renovation to rebuild brought its share of challenges, each hurdle was an opportunity to refine the design and ensure it aligned with the clients’ evolving needs. We created a space with custom cabinetry and a neutral palette, offering future tenants the opportunity to envision their own lives in the space in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

This project is a testament to adaptability and creativity—proof that even when a vision changes, thoughtful design can turn any space into something special.
