When we view a home for the first time—whether in person, flipping through the pages of a book or magazine, or in the form of on-screen beauty—we don’t typically see the products that fill up a shopping cart first, but rather, we see a scene that evokes a feeling, a vibe, maybe even a memory from the past or a dream for the future. We see living rooms that encourage cozy family moments, kitchens that make us want to cook homemade meals, offices that inspire us to create. We see little reflections of what making a beautiful life means to us. Today’s home tour, designed by Talia of Carbon & Bone (one of our talented Interior Designers on The List!), does just that. I don’t doubt that it’s melody of blues and greens layered with brass and walnut will sing to you. For me, I envision pulling a book from that charming arched shelf, lighting up that candle and palo santo and finding a cozy spot on the couch, with my favorite Ray Lamontagne Pandora station playing in the background of course. Join us for the full tour shot by Zeke Ruelas.

From Carbon & Bone… This client came to me with a brand new house and a very busy schedule. An executive at Disney, she had spent two years trying to find a house to buy in Los Angeles and finally landed on an adorable cottage in Studio City. She wanted her new home to feel cozy and be the perfect place to relax and entertain in between her busy international travel schedule. For the design, we focused on a relaxing color palette of blues, greys and green to allow her large interior living space to flow with the gorgeous pool area that it overlooks. We brought in walnut tones and brass accessories to compliment the warmth of her newly stained wood floors and to give the space a modern twist. The finished product is a functional indoor/outdoor space that is perfect for both relaxing and entertaining.
