Set on three expansive acres in Austin, Texas, this architectural masterpiece is a testament to creativity and a bold vision. Designer Savanna Eccles set out to solve a challenge that had long plagued the homeowner, a race car driver torn between the demands of home, workshop, and race track. Photographer Nick Sorrentino captured the result, a home that effortlessly blends industrial architecture with warm, thoughtful finishes, seamlessly integrating every aspect of the race car driver’s life.

From Savanna Eccles… Savanna Eccles, founder of the interior design studio Savanna Paige, set out to create a dream home for herself and her then-partner, an Australian race car driver who now calls Austin home. What followed was a unique collaboration where design expertise met the fast-paced world of racing. This property can be accessed either by land or helicopter. Its driveway is designed to resemble the iconic Ebisu drift circuit in Japan, giving visitors glimpse of what adventurous details lie ahead.
Step inside, and you’re greeted by a symphony of textures and tones—a meticulous blend of luxury and functionality. Marble countertops glisten in the sunlight, juxtaposed against white oak cabinets stained with medium-to dark-tone custom stain. Plywood ceilings soar overhead, while walls dressed in Portola Paint Roman Clay exuded warmth and sophistication. Every detail is meticulously curated, and every element is thoughtfully chosen.

It was in the non-private spaces where the true essence of this collaboration unfolded. Here, the race car driver’s workspace seamlessly transforms into a playground of possibility. Shipping containers were repurposed into functional havens, housing not only two bathrooms but also a full bar complete with a copper-plated island—a nod to the driver’s penchant for luxury. An office space, meticulously organized, provided respite for moments of contemplation, while a car lift stood ready to bring visions to life. It was here, amidst the hum of machinery and the faint scent of gasoline, that the race car driver found inspiration.

The atmosphere shifted from the industrious energy of creation to the soothing embrace of
spa-like ambiance. The primary suite designed as a sanctuary, cocooned its inhabitants in tranquility and calm. Bathed in the warm glow of natural light streaming through expansive windows, the space was adorned in a symphony of soft neutrals, offering a serene backdrop for relaxation. Crisp, white linens adorned the plush bed, extending an irresistible invitation to weary bodies to surrender to the embrace of sleep. Yet, it was the en-suite bathroom that stood as the pièce de résistance of this sanctuary. Marble countertops gleamed under the soft glow of natural light. Within this haven, a deep soaking tub promised to melt away the stresses of the outside world with its inviting warmth, allowing occupants to indulge in moments of pure bliss and rejuvenation.
