From the designer… This project was a half-home remodel that our clients wanted to give a full makeover and turn into an entertainer’s paradise reflecting their own personal style. The wife comes from a world of working in events and was born to entertain and host.
When we set out to design the kitchen we wanted to make it functional for everyday living and entertaining. When we reviewed the plans we saw an untapped area that could make great a walk-in pantry and we wanted to make it hidden (you will see this in our photos). Additionally, we wanted to maximize seating and usable work space in the kitchen and design a big old mac daddy island that seats six. We added timeless materials such as classic shaw farmhouse sink and cal faucet fixtures. We designed this great wall of cabinets that serves as an appliance garage for all the kitchen gadgets and also added a little beverage space for additional storage.
As we move to the dining room this is the space where we added something new – a bar. Our clients love wine and they wanted a place for it all to live conveniently next to their dining space. We created this built-in with symmetry in mind and put in two wine fridges. This space was where we wanted to have little fun and brought a blue tone for the cabinetry. We also did a panel-ready ice maker. Also, fun story, after our install the clients invited us to stay for margs and tacos. It was so fun to watch our clients in their element and jump right in and make margaritas right there at their bar.
Now moving into the living room, we had a wonky built-in before that didn’t encompass the entire wall. Our goal was to create symmetry and also add functionality with storage. We moved the fireplace to the center and use board and batten to create a backdrop to cover the entire wall. This made for a great spot to anchor all the furniture and space for the clients to kick back and relax after a long day. In addition, we added these insane five-panel doors off the living room/dining room to the outside for the ultimate entertainment paradise.
Now making our wall to the entry and staircase – we needed to give this space a facelift. We picked a beautiful white oak wide plank and did solid trends for the staircase. We designed custom posts in which the trims matched the details throughout the hood and island profile design. For the entry wall it was so long so we picked a console that was 84″ so it was take up the scale of the room and created a drop zone for the clients to put their keys up when they walked in the door every day.
