Reminiscent of days of yore, but with a decidedly luxurious twist, this kitchen could exist in nearly any era. Gleaming copper countertops sit atop a lush olive green base creating an island that is a true show stopper in this charming kitchen. See how Amelia Bur & Kristina McIntyre of deVOL created this beautiful Oxhott kitchen in the story below!

From the designer… Our Classic Kitchen and a Haberdasher’s pantry look rather splendid in this very grand home in the pretty Surrey village of Oxshott. Our first impression when we saw this kitchen was that it had a French country feel, the copper hood definitely added to this look. Warm, slightly pinky-cream, and a deep muddy olive green on the cupboards is a fresh and soft combination for our classic furniture.

The best part about this kitchen is that as soon as you step into the space you know it’s all going to work perfectly, everything is close to hand, there is plenty of prep area, a seating spot, and masses of storage. There is also lots of opportunity to display and to hide away, with brass rails, open slatted sections, and large closed doors. Our Gaselier has never looked so good, up above the copper worktop, it literally makes the whole room glow when it is switched on, a genius decision.

The symmetrical back wall consists of a fridge and freezer on one side and a large double pantry on the other, nestled in the middle is a large range cooker flanked by pan drawers. This kind of symmetry is something we love here at deVOL, it always feels simpler and less cluttered to keep the cupboards the same. It’s much easier to do this in a larger space as you still have plenty of opportunity for varied storage without having to compromise on the look. We love the choice of tiles too, simple but with a gloss that shines. Sometimes a reflection is as good as, if not better than, a pattern as it gives life and movement to a space but doesn’t feel too busy or too overpowering.

In the pantry and we couldn’t be more in awe, our Haberdasher’s cupboards look absolutely stunning, so much glass, so much storage, so many options. Cool, bright, totally functional, and still managing to look incredibly stylish, this room shows the versatility of our Haberdasher’s range. We admit to being rather envious of this whole space and can’t help but imagine the joy of cooking and working in this kitchen.
