From the designer… Our clients came to us with the request of full renovation of their single story home in Bel Air. After 20 years in the property and raising their two children, who were off to college, it was finally time for them to prioritize their second act. We were tasked with creating a home that spoke to their passions, reflected the way they wanted to live and entertain, and allowed them to feel like the house finally met their grown-up and seasoned reflection: comfortable, contemporary, cozy, and clean.
After a full gut renovation, we started with a blank canvas which now included a formal front entry hall, large open dining area for entertaining, and chef’s kitchen to suit the passion of our client, a doctor who loves to cook. A cozy family room was created as a place for them to watch their shows together and a kids’ wing was added to the opposite side of the home, as empty nesting has a few more boomerangs for them these days. The large primary suite was designed as a true retreat, with high ceilings wrapped in a fabric wallcovering to envelop the room, custom oak closets, and vanities anchored with a spa-like tub.
Our clients were dedicated to getting it right, right away, making sure that the house was designed for today’s modern living with a wink to the future. A true partnership from day one, we were able to create a modern aesthetic, honoring family heirlooms that merged effortlessly with contemporary art and a score of perfect vintage finds. This included a FaceTime call from the middle of Round Top, Texas, to share that we had found the perfect kitchen table — they just had to say yes! We had to wait until install day to put the stainless steel kitchen island in its place, knowing it was the perfect finishing touch. The end result is an authentic home for our clients, that’s just what the doctor ordered.
