Get ready to fill your Pinterest board up with some goodness—today’s home tour is a doozy. That comes as no surprise to me personally, as I had the opportunity to meet the mind behind the design—Kirsten Holmstedt of Treasure in the Detail Interiors—at our fall 2019 HAVEN Workshop. Kirsten and her incredible design team have been carving out her own gorgeous path in the design industry and this Arizona abode is full proof that she and her team are nailing it.
I usually try to cull down images for our features but there were simply too many lovely shots captured by Life Created to keep it short. And trust me when I say, you won’t want the scroll to end. Kirsten and her team are walking us through every room, laying out all the details. Ready? Right this way…
From Kirsten Holmstedt of Treasure in the Detail Interiors… A sweet couple with 4 young girls recently purchased a new build construction home in the charming town of Gilbert, Arizona. Moving into a larger home was an exciting yet daunting task and they were in need of a professional design team to help them create their dream home…and one they would cherish for many years to come.
Inspired by the talented Studio McGee designs, this family truly desired a home that was bright, fresh, family-friendly, and timeless with modern touches. The beautiful hardscape selections included warm wood tones and light neutrals which allowed for flexibility and creativity in the overall design creation while still sanctioning a cohesive story throughout the home.
Entry
As you enter the beautiful home, it was important to make a statement and set a cohesive tone for the rest of the home. We chose to add clean trim work and casing throughout with a white board and batten wall that created dimension and a timeless appeal. The ceiling was lined with classic black pendants and the brass mirror added a modern element against the warm wood tones in the sideboard piece. The baskets under the console provided texture and design while also serving a functional need for everyday storage.
Sitting Room
Off the entry is the sitting room. The goal for this space was to create a room for relaxing and conversation while still looking clean and polished. Mixing the tones in the leather sofa with the cane in the wood chairs provided the perfect balance of warmth and texture in this space. The overhead chandelier brought in a modern touch and created an interesting focal point in the room. We also find it enjoyable when we can repurpose client’s existing pieces and were able to have their piano refinished in Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray to give it a fresh look and a unified feel with the rest of the space.
Dining Room
As you walk down the hallway from the entry, you will enter the dining room area which sits across an open patio with great natural light. We decided to go bold and accent the walls in a dark gray paint above the vertical shiplap wainscoting. A beautiful sideboard positioned against the wall in the room provides extra storage and the Juniper Print Shop prints above from Jenny Komenda add a nice pop of color. The warm wood table is perfect for large family gatherings and is joined with a striped fabric dining chairs that provide comfort and extra interest to the space.
Mudroom
This space is what dreams are made of! The mix of colors in this space are truly breathtaking and provides the perfect balance of warm and cool tones. In addition to its beauty, this gem also checks all the functional needs for this family of 6 including a bench for putting on shoes, cubbies below for storage, hooks for backpacks and purses, and baskets above for less frequently used items.
Living Room
As an open concept living room, it was important to continue the natural flow in design from the adjoined spaces. The comfortable sectional provides the perfect balance of modern and transitional. While large enough to comfortably seat the family, the space still allows for some extra accent chairs that help bring warmth to the space. The built-in below the TV is perfect for extra storage needs to keep the kids’ toys at bay.
Kitchen
A classic white kitchen done right. We also especially love how the extra depth under the counter allows for the counter stools to be tucked away and the unconventional shape of the island gives an eat-in-kitchen experience without sacrificing traffic flow.
Kitchen Nook
Our team over here at Treasure in the Detail strives to craft spaces centered around how the families that reside in the home… live. We designed this built-in nook as the perfect spot for focused schoolwork time without missing any of the family fun in the shared living + kitchen space. We also wanted to maximize seating while also provide a workstation set up for entertaining when hosting parties and different events at the house.
Powder Bathroom
It’s super important to not to forget about the Powder Bathroom design because they are often the bath most frequently used…and ones your guests will be visiting. We love how the Serena & Lily wallpaper complement the warm tones in the wood vanity and the brass elements give the space some modern edge.
Master Bedroom
It was important to our client to repurpose their bed so we created an overall design that would provide a fresh look while still providing a unified feel with the other spaces in the home. The blue nightstands were a great find that not only provided a nice pop of color but a well-scaled piece for their large space. The color blocking on the focal wall behind the bed was a creative way to keep costs low while still driving an overall unique design to the space.
This home is truly what dreams are made of with finishes and furnishings that will be classic for years to home. We were honored to be selected as their design team and are thankful for the new friendship that grew from our time working together.
