Minimal living is so much more than clearing the clutter Marie Kondo-style or craving a beautifully bare look. Minimal living celebrates the discovery of how we can elevate function with an individual sense of style. The team at Vein Design are masters at it and the home we’re walking into today speaks to exactly that. Walnut tones, black and white hues, and earthy textures fill each room with charm, all while providing seamless transitions from space to space. We sat down with the man behind the lens, Christopher Lee, to get his perspective on this abode that manifests a simple-living mentality.

From Photographer, Christopher Lee… When Nicole from Vein Design had asked me to photograph this stunning Scandinavian-inspired modern farmhouse, I had no idea what to expect but judging from our previous collaborations I was sure it was nothing short of a show-stopper. I didn’t get the sheer size of the property until I walked through the front door. The home had a light and earthy organic touch.

The design of the home was well thought out. It might be a modern farmhouse but it was filled with charm and character in its choice of details and fixtures. Immediately to the left was a cozy living room with a charcoal rustic fireplace and a large window that flooded the space with natural light. The common living area is an open concept with the kitchen, family room and dining room looking out into the beautiful backyard. The high angled vaulted ceilings with the charcoaled colored countertops and stained wood built-ins in the kitchen anchor the room. The rustic copper hammered metal pendant lights above the kitchen island play off the strong dark countertops and built-ins. The soft natural wooden floor gives balance to the room.

All the living areas and bedrooms are designed with ample space and light in mind. The flow between spaces is seamless. Details and fixtures throughout the home are meticulously selected to elevate the space.

I’ve photographed many interiors and this is one I’m glad I had the opportunity to capture on camera. I hope you’ll enjoy and find a bit of inspiration within!
