At HAVEN, our mission is to inspire beautiful everyday moments. When I think about where my everyday moments happen, a big one is getting ready in the morning in my bathroom—something that really sets the mood for my day. Sometimes that’s before my son wakes up and many times, it’s a shared moment where teeth brushing becomes a sing-along and I have a little more assistance than I’d like blow-drying my hair. Thankfully, I find beauty in the chaos because I have a space that is welcoming to be in, and I can imagine this family does, too.
Nicole Salceda of Eye for Pretty outdid herself when designing this bathroom for a family of four. It comes complete with all the fixings, including shiplap walls, patterned tile, a thick edge marble vanity, mixed metals, a soaking tub, and a standing shower. It’s divine. And no matter how crazy those getting ready moments may be, I’m betting this family walks out that door with a smile.
Nicole is answering a few questions about this space below, sharing some sources and a bit about the design process!
Tell us a bit about this gorgeous bathroom. What was the inspiration behind the design?
It’s always a designer’s dream to work with clients who trust your vision and let you do your thing. These clients had a few wants on their list; patterned tile floors, double shower heads, and a freestanding tub but other than that they trusted me to make it special. We started with some inspiration pictures of vanities with thick waterfall edges and deep drawers. Mixed metals are always a yes in my book and I love how the black contrasts with the white walls but the brass brings in some warmth. The goal was to create a beautiful bathroom but also one that made sense for my clients and could be enjoyed with their two young boys as well. The full-blown AV system in here makes it quite the party spot getting ready in the morning!
What is the design element you love most in this space?
The vanity is such a stunner it has to be my favorite element of the bathroom. I drew it out and my cabinet maker brought it to life. That beautiful thick edge gets me EVERY TIME. I also wanted to do all deep drawers and my clients were on board. The brass finger pulls are the perfect finishing touch! (Paint color is Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore)
That tile is stunning! Where can we find it? What are a few of your fave go-to tile sources?
The floor tile is the Remy Cement by Bedrosians. They are my go to tile shop because their selection is massive and they carry so many options. I also love to shop our local tile shops (Siena Tile is my favorite) to see what’s new. My other favorite go to’s are Cle Tile, Walker Zanger and Fireclay.
What material is the counter made from? It’s beautiful.
We searched high and low for the right countertop slab. I knew it had to be perfect because it was going to be such a statement in the bathroom. When I saw the gorgeous warm veins in this Calcutta marble I was done! People are always so nervous about using marble but you just have to embrace its flaws and enjoy it. It’s definitely the star in this bathroom!
