Designed by Blackband Design and photographed by Lucy Call, this striking mountain retreat in Park City balances sculptural materials with a deeply livable layout created for gathering across generations. Playful moments, including a dedicated game-filled media space and a cozy bunk room designed to sleep sixteen, reflect the rhythm of a busy family who returns here season after season. Throughout the home, natural textures and clean lines establish a locally rooted aesthetic that feels both grounded in the landscape and distinctly elevated.

From Blackband Design…Natural beauty takes a bold stance in this 8,200-square-foot Park City, Utah home built for luxurious mountain living. Tumbled stone fireplaces, charred wood paneling using Shou Sugi Ban—a traditional Japanese method of preserving wood—and exquisite marble slabs bring the best of the great outdoors into the elevated design.
Built into a hillside, warm wood siding flows from the exterior through the interiors, creating a cohesive backdrop for bold design moments and welcoming guests on the second floor entry level. Designed as a second home for a Southern California family of water-polo athletes, the residence includes five bedrooms along with an office and a dedicated media and game room, plus seven bathrooms—including five en-suite baths and two powder rooms—making it especially well suited for hosting family and friends in comfort while enjoying sweeping mountain views and multiple outdoor entertainment areas.

One of our favorite moments is this dramatic space—highlighted by oversized lighting, a custom horseshoe art installation created in collaboration with Blackband’s creative general contractor, and twin bouclé armchairs—introducing guests to a retreat that balances sculptural moments with warmth and livability.
