Designed by SALTHOUSE Collective and photographed by Charlotte Lea, this Palos Verdes guest cottage captures the essence of relaxed California living with a Mediterranean twist. The 800-square-foot retreat layers bold striped tile, custom cabinetry, and textured details to create a space that feels both cozy and generous.

From SALTHOUSE Collective… My clients wanted to add this guest cottage to their home to create a place for family and friends to stay when visiting. The guest house is a custom-built, 800-square-foot space designed with rich textures and thoughtful details to make it feel like a main home. We were inspired by beachside cottages in California and the Mediterranean, incorporating tongue-and-groove wall paneling, open shelves to display collected wares, and bold striped tile to bring in a touch of beachy funk. The custom cabinetry really makes the space feel special and linens, textured fabrics, and playful prints add to the laid-back vibe.

“I love how much we were able to fit into the space, making it feel spacious yet still quaint and cottage-like.”
