Designed by Julie Hawkins of Hawkins Interiors and captured by photographer George Barberis, this Central Oregon retreat reflects the owners’ long-standing tradition of gathering with family and friends. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the home layers soft colors, organic textures, and natural materials to create a serene gathering place.

From Hawkins Interiors… Originally from the Bay Area, the owners had been vacationing in Central Oregon with their family and friends for as long as they could remember, and they always knew they wanted a place of their own to preserve the tradition for future years and generations. Once they found the perfect piece of property for sale in 2017, it was time to turn their dream into reality. The process began by surveying the 140 acres and creating a wish list of functions, ranging from a fishing pond and “glamp-ground” to a recreational party barn designed to host as many friends as possible, and of course, a private owners’ residence tucked away from the gathering areas for a cozy respite.

This process included consulting with renowned architect Howard Backen, which is how the owners were connected with Julie Hawkins of Hawkins Interiors – having formerly led the interior design department at Backen’s firm before starting her eponymous interior design studio. Ultimately, the owners chose to work with a local Architect Rick Wright, and relying heavily on the Julie’s influence and touch on every aspect of the design.
