When two design studios with distinct aesthetics come together, the result can be unexpectedly special, as was the case with this Ontario home redesigned by KLA Interiors and Sarah Birnie Interiors. Blending their distinct styles, modern minimalism and traditional English charm, the collaboration brought out the best in both teams, creating a dynamic home, layered, home tailored for both everyday living and extended family gatherings. Lauren Miller captured the incredible transformation below.

From the designers KLA Interiors & Sarah Birnie Interiors…This project marked the homeowners’ first home renovation, transforming an older house into one that could sustain their growing family. Now a family of four with the desire to host extended relatives, it was important to ensure everyone could gather comfortably around the table. A string of enclosed rooms limited the flow of natural light and connectivity, so we opened up the space and created a more centralized kitchen- truly the heart of the home.

The collaboration between the two firms was a beautiful marriage of aesthetics. Sarah Birnie Interiors often leans more modern and neutral, while KLA Interiors brings a traditional, English-inspired approach. The combination not only served the clients well but also allowed us to stretch and expand our own creative muscles.
