Photographed by Muriel Silva and designed by Post-Moderne, this home channels casual elegance with an intentional mix of natural materials and nostalgic charm. Set in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, the project evolved slowly and thoughtfully, shaped by the unexpected rhythms of a pandemic and the client’s shifting vision of home. From shell stone and white oak flooring to terracotta tile and grasscloth, every detail was chosen to evoke warmth, memory, and ease.

From Post-Moderne Design… The design of this home happened before the COVID pandemic, so when the pandemic hit, the project was put on hold for nearly a year. The client and I would still source tile, lighting, furnishings, etc., knowing we would be able to work slowly toward the goal of building, but we needed that creative outlet while we waited on the construction phase to begin.
We were inspired by the beautiful white homes in Alys Beach, FL, as the client loves to vacation in Rosemary Beach, FL. We hired Cronk Duch to design the architecture, but we tweaked it throughout the project as the client recognized the cost of building during the pandemic, lifestyle changes, among a few other things. There were lots of tricky things that happened during the build like difficulty finding tradespeople, extended lead times, and it took a long time to get the home to a livable condition.

We began furnishing the home, but the client realized after a couple of years in, this was not their forever home. They bought the lot next door and have plans to build a smaller version of this home there. It’s funny how life changes in the midst of something so beautiful and chaotic. We’ve been preparing to work on new plans for the new home and the client is hoping to be inspired by their trip to Spain and Mallorca. We will see what new design we can bring in from their travels.
