Between being a mom of a 1-year-old toddler and launching a new business, reading is one of those little luxuries that has been put on the back burner lately. Or, maybe I should say, my reading priorities have adapted to my current activities: business and babies, ha! I actually prefer the kind of books that leave me feeling as if I’ve learned something that I can put to good use, a notion that branding expert, Lexi of Revel Union shares in. Today, Lexi is sharing six great books for entrepreneurs—have you read any/all? When you’re done peeking at her roundup below make sure to head to The List to learn more about Lexi and connect with her if you are in need of branding help!
From Lexi of Revel Union… I’ve never been an avid fiction reader, but the older I get, the more interested I am in self-improvement and motivational books. Sometimes, they’re just the pep talk I need to start my day. Today, I’m sharing some recommendations for those of you that are looking for a bit of entrepreneurial inspiration. And even if you aren’t a business owner or designer, there are a couple that are just general inspiration for daily life!
#1 Brand Brilliance by Fiona Humberstone
Brand Brilliance is a must-read if you’re wanting to refine your message and up your marketing game. Written by the branding expert, Fiona guides you through strategies and principles for developing brands that make an impact.
#2 Girl Code by Cara Alwill Leyba
This book is a phenomenon! My bestfriend gifted this book to me 2 years ago for my birthday when I was first starting my entrepreneur journey. Inc. magazine named it one of the “Top 9 Inspiring Books Every Female Entrepreneur Should Read”, and I couldn’t agree more. I recommend it to any female in the business world. It’s all about supporting other working women and the importance of women showing up for each other.
#3 Make it Happen by Lara Casey
Is there anything that Lara Casey writes that isn’t bad?! I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the greater purpose of life. Lara tells her story of how she leapt out of her comfort zone and into the life she wanted for herself. It’s relatable and inspirational at the same time.
#4 Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
In a world that views stress as a status symbol, Niequist invites us to slow down and look for real-world connections with those around us. As an entrepreneur, I find her advice valuable in my personal and professional life as I learn to juggle the two.
#5 How to Style Your Brand by Fiona Humberstone
More brilliance from Fiona Humberstone. In this book, she outlines the process of envisioning your dream brand and bringing it into reality. I feel like I can’t ever have enough books on branding and resources to further educate myself in my expertise. This book is a great guide to creating a cohesive brand for those who don’t have a budget to hire a designer.
#6 Styled by Emily Henderson
Styled is a fun read for anyone interested in design, hailed “the ultimate guide to thinking like a stylist.” This book was on my list for my birthday… because let’s face it… Emily Henderson is interior designer queeeen! Plus, it doubles as the perfect coffee table book.
