Prescott Design gave this Georgia home the comfortable, traditional transformation it so badly needed. Every corner tells a tale of thoughtful design built for cozy family living, from the warm welcome of the entry table adorned with curated treasures to the vibrant office space built for both beauty and functionality. From the designer… In this home, the existing space plan wasn’t as comfortable or inviting as our clients hoped. They also didn’t like the primarily white palette that lacked dimension. This sunroom is a family favorite, so we designed a custom bumper chaise sectional to create more cozy seating to enjoy the abundant natural light and the stunning view of the backyard. It also introduced a bold color in an extra inviting performance velvet. We can’t say enough about the importance of window treatments in any space, but it is particularly evident in this sunroom. The melange wool flannel drapes play an important role in drawing the eye up and softening the connection between the top of the windows and the ceiling.
In the family room, the existing mantle was overly simple and mounted too high for ideal tv viewing. We redesigned the fireplace surround to lower the television and add much needed dimension and interest. We replaced the single sofa and oversized swivel chairs with two full sofas and a cozy chaise for maximum seating. This space plan works equally well as a conversation area and a comfortable space to watch tv as a family. The second sofa also helps create visual separation from the family room and the office. Additionally, the new color palette introduces darker wood tones and a richness that was lacking.
Our goal was to create an office that felt saturated in color yet cohesive with the rest of the first floor. This office is located directly off the entry, so it needed to be beautiful. It also needed to serve as a professional background for frequent video conference calls. We designed a custom built-in with accent lighting and lots of storage and desk space that completely transformed the room.
One of our favorites is the entryway. We introduced a round table to soften this stair corner full of hard angles. The entry table provided the perfect surface for styling with one-of-a-kind and vintage pieces that we curated from near and far to create a warm welcome.
Our clients wanted the dining room to feel elegant without being overly formal or traditional. We achieved that by pairing more modern pieces like the sculptural sideboard, dining table, and plaster table lamp with more traditional elements like the navy botanical wallpaper, gilded chandelier, and draperies with trim. The natural jute rug adds a layer of texture to ground the space
