Envisioned as the dream retirement home for Alisha Taylor Interiors‘ clients, this Arizona kitchen is a harmonious blend of traditional charm and modern simplicity. Her new build design plan combined eye-catching drama with family-friendly function creating a luxurious and inviting space for frequent large family gatherings. Joshua Caldwell beautifully captured the highlights below.
From the designer… Our Blue Sage Estate kitchen design was inspired by touches of traditional charm, done in a simplified, clean way with a fresh new color palette. This new build was designed to be our clients’ dream retirement home. We had to take multi-generational living and aging-in-place design principles into consideration. We also had to account for the frequent, large family gatherings that will be happening in this home. Eye-catching drama partnered with family friendly function defines this new build kitchen located in the up-and-coming luxury community of Somerset in Gilbert, Arizona.
The barrel-arched beamed ceiling in the kitchen takes center stage pulling your eye up to appreciate the volume and drama then points to the various details and materials below. A herringbone wood floor pattern anchors the design and adds an unexpected texture. Incorporating multiple materials and finishes was key for the layered design; rich walnut island, warm-hued painted cabinets, contrasting metal cabinetry, mother nature’s quartzite, rich deep charcoal quartz, and a painted brick wall. Pulling the different layers together, oversized pendant lights from Circa Lighting add that artistic yet simple flair to the space. The kitchen highlights gorgeous barstools from Palecek that present a luxury layered look all their own.
Stepping further into the kitchen, you realize there’s a steel and glass door that interrupts the soft light cabinetry leading you to the ‘Grandkid Baking Kitchen’. This unique secondary space features deep slate blue painted cabinetry for a pop of color, open shelves stocked with cookie cutters and sprinkles, and its own island that houses stools for grandchildren to decorate cookies with grandma. A functional, mindful and dramatic kitchen!
