Come tour a home that feels like a cool reprieve on a hot summer day. Rhianna Jones, of Tidal Interiors, balanced soft greys, warm oak, and thoughtful touches reminiscent of the homeowner’s Spanish abode to create a space that blends modern design and comfortable living. See how it all came together in the tour below.
From the designer… Our La Jolla Shores project was deeply inspired by the tones and textures of the nearby ocean. We focused on incorporating a neutral color palette influenced by the surrounding environment. The house in its entirety is a continuous balance of cool raw materials with softer warm finishes. Throughout the house we used natural white oak in the reeded cabinetry, stain-grade interior doors and a custom herringbone floor to balance the cool smooth concrete board.
This property is only one of twenty- two houses located directly on the sand in the La Jolla Shores community. The location is truly one of a kind; it greatly played a role in our design choices and overall direction of the project.
A standout moment was when the floating staircase was finally installed. It truly bypassed all of our expectations! The staircase was such an important feature of the overall design of the house and we were so pleased once it was completed.
A unique space we fell in love with was the powder room. While designing the space we were deeply inspired by the client’s home in Northern Spain. We designed the concrete and teak sink as well as the custom wood carved screen from Morocco. The palm backsplash was also completely custom, we hand selected each tile to create a completely unique and authentic backsplash.
The clients were beyond delightful to work with. We loved working with them to help bring their dream home to life. Building a beachfront house from the ground up can be a lot to take on but the clients were nothing but inspired and excited about the project.
