If risk-taking makes you feel a bit queasy take a moment to collect yourself before you begin scrolling. Jenn Feldman Designs started off this home design with the bold choice of green marble countertops gently curving around a banquet in the kitchen. From there they created a family-friendly home with strategically chosen rich colors to enhance the polished most assuredly adult feeling. See how their daring choices paid off in the beautiful shots below by Amy Bartlam.
From the designer… Our clients were passionate to move into their forever home and JFD was lucky to be their partner in making this dream come true. From early on they expressed the desire to take what was a classic “vanilla” builder’s home box and layer the house with the richness and depth they both craved to feel rooted and settled in LA, nestled high up over Mandeville Canyon in Brentwood. They wanted the home to be durable for their young family, but also to wow with color and contrast and a polished grown-up feel, like walking into the Soho House for a great escape and night out … in the living room! We explored the juxtaposition of high contrast and saturated colors, pushing the furthest boundaries of blue and green to be anything but ordinary. The risk taking started high with green marble slabs for the kitchen countertops. A second island was added to create more space for cooking (he is the chef of their kitchen!), finished with a rounded custom banquette for a bespoke look and family dinners “in the round”.
The family room houses an oversized custom family sectional, custom ottoman with inset stools and a favorite Jin Woo Prensena photo for the perfect beach getaway!
The front living room was repurposed as the lounge, finally placing the pool table which was passed down from their family and cherished. We blanketed the room in a rich dark navy adding Made Goods bar cabinets to each side. Custom lighting was thoughtfully selected throughout the home from Urban Electric, a vintage runner dressed the long hallway and House of Hackney wallpaper was selected as the bridge of all colors coming together to make the powder room a wow!
