The Home Industry's Top Experts & Creatives

Photographer Jessica Bordner is well known for creating the most glowy, romantic wedding photos you’ve ever seen. But this isn’t a wedding blog so why do we mention this? Because she has translated her signature style over to her interior photography business. In the interview below you’ll learn more about just how she does this and see a sampling of some of her enchanting work.

How would you describe your personal photography style and what influences have had the greatest impact in developing said style?

My style is warm, romantic imagery done with style and direction. It has been a style that took years to perfect, with influences from a mix of old Florida charm to the modern world, to create timeless images I hope people can recognize comes from me when they see it.

You have a thriving wedding photography business, but I’d like to shine a light on your interior shots which are just as romantic as your wedding photos. What excites you about interior photography and keeps it in your rotation?

Interior design has always been something that inspired me in my personal and professional life. Clean lines and how colors and textures work together share a lot of the same ideas and creativity during wedding days. Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to work on incredible projects both here, in Palm Beach, and throughout the country. Doing my interior projects is a great way to take a creative break from weddings and get my art juices refreshed before season.

Do you have a mantra or mindset that has been powerful in your journey of being a business owner?

Providing the client with the best of you and what is different about your experience is the only way to grow. Be true to yourself and your brand and you will go further than if you are constantly competing in work and in your personal life.

You’ve shared that you enjoy traveling and have visited myriad locales such as Egypt, Japan, Ireland, and Guatemala. Where do you look forward to jetting off to next?

The last couple of years were much slower in travel for me and I am ready to jet off soon! As a mom to a 3-year-old, I want her to see the world like I have been lucky enough to. My most in-the-future trip takes me to Napa Valley area for the holidays and for my upcoming birthday. I’m hoping the colder weather and mountain landscapes inspire some winter ideas for when I come back to Florida. Also, hoping to make it over to Italy (Amalfi Coast) within the near future!

Where can we find you when you’re not behind the camera? What sparks joy in your life beyond the lens?

My family. My 3-year-old daughter and husband are who are at the center of my days now and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Also, working on any new decor or house project when I get the chance and tequila or wine hangs with my close friends.

We’re both in the business of pouring over perfectly styled homes and steal-worthy design moments. Do you find yourself dreaming up new ideas for your own home constantly?

YES! Dreaming and doing! I tend to grab onto one small project a year to keep my love of design fresh. We purchased our 1959 home over five years ago and we are constantly building upon its charm and modernizing where needed. My latest projects have been adding custom built-ins for the mud room/ and dining space as well as a TV living room built in using warm woods and white pops. Styling these spaces for the holidays is what I most look forward to.
