Natural light and modern-traditional design greet you when entering this remodeled Minnesota home. Nothing is too fragile or fussy and that is exactly what Katie, of Adorned Homes, intended when reimagining this home for its new family. By infusing thoughtful space planning with quality materials Katie created an airy and inviting home this family will spend tons of time enjoying. Take a peek below to see how she pulled it all together.
From the designer… A private two acres of land set in the of North Oaks, MN community was the perfect setting for this family of four but the 1984 two-story needed some work. Complete interior demolition of the large home would allow for a fresh start for a home that matched the beautiful outdoor spaces.
The biggest undertaking in the home was the kitchen. Poorly laid out and completely dated this space needed a better plan. Installing a giant steel I-beam allowed a post to be removed from the island, making this wide open to the wooded view outside through the new French doors that were installed. Natural light is one of Adorned Homes absolute favorite elements in good home design. Of course, this was the #1 thing that they wanted to maximize in the kitchen renovation because this is the room where the family starts and ends their day. When they had the opportunity to partner with Marvin on this project it was a no brainer. The options to customize and fit the current space were perfect. The goal was to utilize the existing door and window spaces to create the illusion of a full wall of windows.
Rounding out the project, the Thermador appliances made the space not only beautiful but functional. An eight burner range and griddle are perfect for cooking quick, multi-dish meals. Two kitchen sinks, a 48″ range, double ovens, and the correct amount of walk space for multiple cooks make for the perfect work triangle. The room flows right into the dining room and a cozy nook for reading or playing games while meals are prepared. The timeless design will be enjoyed for years to come!
The primary suite was transformed into a peaceful oasis with a large, walk-in shower, soaking tub, and double closets. The serene sitting room off the bedroom allowed for a quiet place for the owners to relax after the kids went to bed. The highlight of this space was removing the pepto pink bathroom with matching tub and toilet.
