Ok, in today’s headline I was having some fun… but it’s because this home design by Hunter Carson Design is just that. While you can definitely see the soothing spa resort inspiration, the playful green pops throughout this home reflect the nature of the city it resides in bringing life to the modern resort aesthetic. Take a tour of this beautiful space in the photos by Molly Rose and ask yourself “Are we at home or on vacation?”.

From the designer… Who doesn’t love vacation? It’s one of our favorite things EVER, so we wanted to create a vacation vibe for the couple moving from San Francisco into this Palos Verdes home. We used neighboring Terranea Resort and Spa as our inspiration in transforming a dated house from the ’70s into a modern-day home boasting relaxing vibes in every room.

That meant blurring the lines between inside/outside living. A trademark of Palos Verdes (and the resort) is their beautiful palm trees. To continue to bring the outside in, palm leaves cover the walls in the powder bathroom and a natural wood vanity mimics colors you find in nature. We carried the green theme throughout the home. From the doors to the living room couch, even the laundry room received special attention. Vacation and cocktails go together, so there’s a designated place to craft a cocktail, before getting to work in the spacious kitchen. The primary bathroom took its cues from Terranea as well: The spa-like space boasts marble floors, a rain head shower and deep soaking tub. The gold faucets make the room feel special and cabinets hold almost everything, so the countertop can remain clean.

A favorite element of the home is seen the second you walk in… we capitalized on what was wasted space and turned it into this moment. We literally cut out the space under the staircase and created a micro library. It’s the perfect place for a party of one…
