This Pennsylvania home got a major upgrade when Libby Rawes, of Sharp & Grey Interiors, took on the renovation of it’s 90’s era kitchen. A slight expansion and custom banquet brought much needed utility and comfort to the young family who inhabits it. See the small yet mighty kitchen come alive in the photos by Rebeccca McAlpin Photography below.
From the designer… Our clients hired us to design their kitchen renovation in their outdated 90’s kitchen in Wyncote, PA. We enlarge the room slightly to create a cool and moody space for their young family to enjoy time together. They wanted the space to feel a little industrial and modern all while feeling warm, fresh, and welcoming. We brought depth with dark floors and mixed them with natural wood cabinetry. Our client loves green but didn’t want the entire kitchen to be green, so we pulled touches of green throughout the project from the Crypton velvet in the custom banquette and lighting in the kitchen to the bold and amplified use of color in the smaller bar and powder room spaces.
The banquette is a star of the project but was also one of the biggest challenges. We worked very hard to get the measurements and the design just right to fit into the space. We even customized the back to fit around the window. The kitchen itself is not large, and we were able to expand the wall a bit into the dining room next door to accommodate the piece.
Throughout this project we added smart storage and functionality, used indestructible surfaces, and added timeless elements mixed with some industrial and cool touches. The finished project is filled with personality, depth, and style.
