Glamorous, warm, and thoughtfully collected, this San Francisco home by Regan Baker Design brings a fresh sense of personality to a classic Edwardian home. Designed for a family known for entertaining, the spaces strike a balance between expressive design moments and livable comfort, with layered details that feel both elevated and personal. Through the lens of Jessica Burke, this home unfolds as a reflection of both its architectural roots and the people who bring it to life.
From Regan Baker Design… This Edwardian home in San Francisco’s Jordan Park neighborhood had been on our clients’ radar for years, and when it came back on the market, they didn’t think twice. A family of four with a deep love of entertaining, (he’s a former nightlife promoter and they are known for their fun-filled dinner gatherings) they wanted a home that felt genuinely glamorous while still being warm, organized, and livable for a busy family.
The renovation honors the home’s architectural heritage, original crown molding, classic marble, and beautifully preserved window casings, while introducing bold wallpapers, statement lighting, and luxurious furnishings that give each room its own distinct personality. That work was led in collaboration with architect Jim Caldwell, who also happens to be our client’s father. His understanding of both the home’s bones and his daughter’s vision made for a truly special partnership. The clients’ art collection carries that personal thread even further, including landscapes and family portraits painted by Jim himself alongside acquisitions from notable San Francisco galleries Berggruen and Maybaum.
The dining room sits at the center of the home, and because you move through it to reach the kitchen, we leaned into making it a true destination. Statement wallpaper and a sculptural chandelier set the tone, creating a space that feels perfect for entertaining. The kitchen, designed with their love of cooking and hosting in mind, features two islands and plenty of custom millwork to keep everything organized and beautiful.
The formal living room, anchored by the modernized fireplace and layered with color, texture, and carefully chosen art and collected treasures, is a favorite for both us and our clients. It perfectly blends warmth and comfort with a sense of luxe and glamour. In contrast, the family room is bright, casual and relaxed, a true gathering space designed for everyday life.
Upstairs, the primary suite is moody and enveloping, with touches of gold that nod to the home’s glamorous throughline and Venetian plaster walls that add a subtle, fog-like texture reminiscent of San Francisco skies. An existing skylight in the primary bathroom required an intentional approach to bring in an abundance of natural light. The girls’ bedrooms each have their own fully realized world, and there is even a dedicated craft room for them to create in, ensuring every member of the family has a space that truly feels like their own.
A converted loft rounds out the upper level as a flexible guest suite and sleepover haven, complete with refined millwork and a sitting area that gives it a cozy, library-like feel. Downstairs, the media room envelops you in deep blue from floor to ceiling, with custom millwork, a marble wet bar, and a modular sectional, perfect for family movie nights and time spent with friends. This home delivers on everything our clients asked for, glamorous, warm, and built for a family that knows how to live well.
