The Home Industry's Top Experts & Creatives

This year (more than ever) the holiday season brings cozy, comforting vibe to help close out one of the most uncertain years we’ve ever experienced. Needless to say, layering on festive touches throughout our homes feels a little extra special and more cherished. If you’re anything like me, you’ve started the process but still have a ways to go—and you might be on the hunt for some merry musings! We’ve got you covered as we welcome designer, Bria Hammel, on the blog to share her top holiday styling tips paired with exactly how you can get the look from her darling shop, Brooke & Lou. Happy hall-decking!

Tip No.1: Use command strips laying flat on the top of your mantle to hook your garland on. No more slipping or shifting garland!

Tip No. 2: Plan for 15-20 ornaments per 1 foot of Christmas tree. Trees 6ft-8ft can lean towards 15 ornaments per foot, while larger trees 9ft+ should be 20 per foot!

Tip No. 3: Keep open flame candles away from greenery and on heat-resistant surfaces. Hang your candles in scones for an elevated look.

Tip No. 4: Use seasonal ribbons or decorative hooks to display your favorite wreaths, without damage of nails or screws.

Tip No. 5: Wrap garland or greenery around existing light fixtures for a vertical statement piece.

Tip No. 6: Utilize small twist ties or craft store wire to tie small seasonal hanging decor around existing furniture pieces.

Tip No. 7: Lean seasonal artwork against sturdy mirrors or larger scale prints to layer your mantle and add dimension.
